Gouache and coloured pencil
This composition depicts the feeling of isolation faced by the youth of Govan, where there are fewer resources and opportunities for success. I have used unusual colours to emulate feelings of solitude amongst chaos, where young people in Govan might have a desire to progress but are limited by socio-economic boundaries. An abundance of blues and purples represent melancholy and desolation, whilst complementary reds and oranges emitted from the homes in the background create a sense of warmth and comfort – something this individual longs for.
